How To Handle Rude And Bad Sprouts, An Honest Question.

I've noticed an increase in players that are new to the game, but do not want to learn how their stuff works. I'm not some elitist asshole that shames new/learning players, and I'm never belligerent with people, even those that get nasty with me.

Normally, when i'm in a dungeon with new players, I'm extra sensitive to their needs and try to assist them as best as I can. I'd say things like "Hey tank, if you're hitting 3 or more enemies, your AoE button does more damage and holds aggro better.", or "Healer, when you run low on mana, Lucid dreaming can help you get it back." Really basic things like that. Usually those go fine, and sometimes even if you don't get a response, you'll see them change how they play to incorporate the advice. I've met a couple sprouts that were thankful, and often times I'll add them and craft them some gear for free afterwards. This used to be the majority of encounters I had. Recently, this is starting to shift. To make a point, I'll recall a particular run of Dusk Vigil. The entire dungeon was slow and painful, and getting the tank to hold aggro was like pulling teeth. I was playing a blm so I had plenty of time during casts to watch what was happening. At some point, I reminded the tank to grab aggro on the whole pack instead of single target the mobs 1-by-1. I had to remind the tank that his defensive cooldowns existed. All this, no response, no change in behavior. After the 4th wipe to the final boss, where I casts whirling gaol and you hide behind rocks, I explained in chat how it worked. After the tank died *again*, the healer gave up, and left the tank on the ground and pocket healed the dragoon and we managed to 3-man it with a few rez's. While we're typing gg, the tank puts in chat,

"Your [sic] not a mentor, shut up and do dps."

Funnily enough, I'm a trade mentor, but a monkey can get that in a week so fair enough. I was stunned. From my perspective, everything I said was polite and correct. This wasn't satasha or copperbell where someone is "still learning the job". This also isn't some end game dungeon where someone might know what they're doing, and are just lazy/not focused. This was a level 51 dungeon. That means they had to slog through hours of post patch quests to get here. How do you still not get it.

So now, I'll start with "Hey <Job Name>, Would you like a piece of advice?" To my resounding surprise, it's always the players that are pants-on-head stupid, lost and damned, that type back No or some other rude response. As the number of sprouts I run into thanks to the virus skyrockets, so too does the number of asshole sprouts. More new players + consistent % of people are assholes = more asshole sprouts. It's becoming so bad that I'm avoiding doing roulettes unless I'm with a full party.

So heres my question to the community: What do you do with someone that's so bad that it's ruining your experience (Wiping on attempt number 9 of a boss), they don't want your advice, or ignore it once given, are rude in return?

As I see it, my options are,

A.) Waste an hour and a half on a sunken temple of Qarn.

B.) Attempt a votekick.

C.) Leave and suffer a leaving penalty.

With these options, none of them seem good. I'll start with C and A first, as they seem like the most obvious downsides.

A.) I want to reiterate I'm not talking about players that are new and learning the ropes. I'm specifically talking about "You don't pay my sub type people". I'm paying to play this just as much as they are. Just as I don't pay their sub, they don't pay mine. They're even possibly inconveniencing multiple other people.

C.) Similar arguement as above. Why am I being punished/inconvenienced with a leave penalty because someone can't take 5 goddamn seconds to read a tooltip before joining a queue, or atleast realize that when you're drowning and someone throws you a life preserver that you should put it on instead of take a big mouthful of water so that you can spit it at them.

As for Option B.) Votekick. I'm hesitant with this one. There are 3 outcomes here. Either the kick succeeds, and the sprout learned nothing. They'll go queue for another and drag some other poor group down. This is essentially kicking the can down the street. Option 2 is that the sprout is in a duo, and the vote will fail and now theres a schism in the group. Option 3, the sprout is in a trio, and I'm about 15 seconds away from my own votekick and possibly even getting reported falsely for harrassment/bullying. Theres even a line in the ToS under the heading "Obstruction of play" for " Improper expulsion voting "

It feels like a lose-lose scenario. The sprout gets to continue being bad and making things worse for others, or I have a legendarily poor time, or I get to not play the game It feels like the only option is to stick with known groups of friends until the lockdown/quarantine is over.

TL:DR, I've seen an increase in people that don't want to learn, and drag the whole group down. The available options to remedy the situation are ineffectual at best, and risking a ban/warning at worst.
