Here's the deal
I've played FFXIV on and off since before ARR. I'm currently mid stormblood, I've never been at max level. I bounce jobs a lot, most are 60 and all crafts 50.
I am a huge FF fan, and played XI for over a decade daily.
I want to love XIV, really i do, but everytime i play, it feels like a solo game, with a fairly decent storyline and a ton of click through dialog and zone running inbetween.
Nothing about this game feels MMO to me except the marketboard.
I prefer games that force social interactions, XI, EQ, etc.. where its required to progress.
In XIV, it feels like a glamour chatroom full of semi-AFKs waiting for something to happen, or waiting on a duty finder.
but the FF lore, the DRGs and BLMs and Summons, those keep me coming back, but its fleeting, and like now, my eyes have turned elsewhere.
The games I've stuck with are because i formed bonds, friendships, statics and teams where i look forward to seeing those folks. in XIV, everyone feels nameless, everything feels instanced, and my gameplay feels very inconsequential.
So i feel like i am missing something, so many huge fans of this game who come back FOR the social aspect, but I'm just totally missing it. I am genuinely looking for advice on how to make XIV more sticky and when i get on, there are things to do other than MSQ or duty finder or house decorating
