Understanding that Devs don't actually read these forums, I still want to get my thoughts out.
FFXIV is a great game, and in my opinion has surpassed even WoW in many areas including crafting, gathering, and player housing. However, the way housing was designed to work does have a lot of flaws, and also opens up RMT sites selling housing, and bots.
If you go to the districts of each zone, just browse a lot of the houses there when you go to choose a ward, you will notice a good number of them are actually advertising things. for example in the goblet, there was one house who was advertising time share options in Baltimore Maryland, and selling tickets to conventions. I kid you not.
You go to these wards and you see there is houses on them, but nothing else, i mean just the building, nothing in side, it just sits there.
I wish the Devs would have a better monitoring system of how these plots are being used as to weed out any In-game misuse.
With that said, I honestly think that there should have been zones for residential, and zones for free companies. Honestly if people wanted their own privet residence, an apartment should be the only form for privet residence, leaving actual plots for Free Companies as it would promote Free companies and bringing players together, i feel Free Companies are a little impersonal. but if there should be Privet housing, and Free company housing then they should be separate zones. Mixing the two leaves players where they are now, fighting over plots of land, some waiting 4,5,6 9 hours hoping to click the placard fast enough to purchase the land before someone who just showed up 15 mins prior.
So again, I know that this will be just a rant, and the Devs don't read these, I just feel that housing problem could be fixed, honestly, make divisions for either residential, or Free companies, and sub-divisions for the other. or any new zones, or additional plots be Free Company purchase only. while yes adding new zones to match the zones already made would take some work, honestly transitions between the two would not be as hard, for the zones designated to free companies only those who have a free company in a zone that will be for residential, they should be able to transfer it to the new zone. or the Devs could do it automatically.
But not allowing players access to housing just because they chose not to stand at a placard for hours on end is messed up. players shouldn't have to sacrifice their game play just for housing. and housing would be available more to players who truly want to use and have one if they would start going through each zone making sure the housing is being used for in-game purposes only.
Like I said, just venting frustrations, and my thoughts on it. which everyone has their own opinions, this is just mine.
