Ye be warned, dungeon spoilers beyond this point. Turn back now if ye wish a sightless venture.
It's almost over, but I've seen a few people shy away or get frustrated with the yearly All Saints' Wake event dungeon, the Haunted Manor. I thought I'd pop together a quick guide with a few visuals for those that would like a better understanding of how it works and what to expect.
Access
First off to access the manor, you'll need to complete the initial All Saints' Wake quest starting at the Adventurers' Guild Investigator at Old Gridania ( 10 , 8 ). Once you've completed it, a new quest from them should be available that will open up the Haunted Manor event dungeon. Once unlocked speak to any of the Harlequin Guide npcs to queue up. This is a 4 person dungeon and any open slots when you queue will be filled with other players. No soloing this.
What's the goal?
Once you enter, an imp will appear and assign you three random tasks of a possible seven. If you successfully complete all 3 tasks, you'll be teleported to a special room with a pumpkin that rewards event currency when opened. Your group will be given a shared sanity bar that will slowly deplete if either one of the dungeon mobs detects you or you get a task with an objective that has possible false objectives. It's essentially a stealth run. If you run out of time or sanity, you will be kicked out of the dungeon and will have to queue again.
Monsters to avoid
There are two mobs in the dungeon that must be avoided (don't attack them!). If they detect you, the sanity bar will be slightly depleted and you will be temporarily transformed into a jack-o-lantern, after which you will have a brief invisibility buff. Don't sweat it too much if you get caught or it takes you a few tries getting around the mobs unseen.
Circus Ahriman
This monster has a slim frontal detection cone and patrols areas in circles. Occasionally it will stop it's patrol for a few moments before continuing ahead. You can safely pass by on the opposite side of the hallway being patrolled, just watch for the turns.
Circus Wisp
This floating flame detects noise from characters running around in a 360 degree range. If you have need to get close to it you should be able to switch to walk mode to scoot by, but it can be finicky.
Obfuscation Charms
Randomly located about the manor, these charms will grant a temporary invisibility buff to the entire party when clicked. You can safely run directly through monsters if needed while the buff is up, but be watchful of your location when it's about to wear off!
Tasks
Jack-in-the-Box
This task is usually what obliterates the sanity bar because people just go wild clicking every blue pumpkin they see. DO NOT click the blue pumpkins until you have the clues. For this task, every single room will have a blue pumpkin, BUT only two pumpkins will not eat a large chunk out of the sanity bar when opened. Each of the correct chest will have two clues that point to their location. One will say the floor, the other will say the last number in the room. The clues can be found in random rooms inside cryptic notes.
Be sure to mention what the clues says in party chat as information is not automatically shared with the group. As an example, if a clue says the first box is on the ground floor and another clue says the first box is in a room ending in 5, you would open the box in 105 safely. Hot tip: If the clue says a room ending in 7 or 8, only the ground floor has rooms ending in those numbers.
Coffer Cracker
For this task you will need to search all the rooms for cryptic notes for a 5 digit combination and a pink pumpkin treasure coffer.
The notes are scattered about randomly and you will need to share the information with your party as it is not automatically shared. Some people prefer to use a number fill-in system.
Ex: The third number is 6
P: xx6xx
The 5th number is 2
P: xx5x2
Once you have all 5 numbers, someone will need to target the coffer and in Say chat, type the number. example, target the coffer and type: /s 38475
If the incorrect number is submitted to the coffer, it will turn the character making the attempt into a pumpkin and eat a large chunk of sanity.
Light the Lanterns
This task requires everyone to find smoldering coal and light four unlit jack-o-lanterns around the manor. The smoldering coal is shared loot, so anyone can use coal that someone else picked up to light a lantern. Be aware that the coal and lanterns can end up in the same rooms, so be sure to double check that you haven't missed one before you move on to the next room.
Arcane Circles
To complete this task, everyone will need to find their own large glowing circle to stand in.
If you happen to notice extra circles near yours, be sure to mention it to the group and I've found it helpful to use the Party > Waypoint Markers to plop a marker onto the map as to the location so others can navigate easily to it.
Skin Changer
This task requires you to use the smokebomb quest item (automatically placed in your quest inventory) on the blue pumpkins you will find in each room to uncover the hiding imp.
If it glows pink, head to the next room.
If it glows blue, open it and the task is complete.
Cookie Hunt
Search rooms for the cookie baskets and open them until the group has collected a total of 15 cookies. Bronze baskets give one cookie, silver give three and gold give five.
Pumpkin Hunt
Rush around the rooms, looking for blue pumpkins. If you see one, open it. Once all six have been opened, this task is complete!
That's all there is to it! If you have any questions, or notice anything off, please feel free to comment. I hope this helps those frustrated with the dungeon understand how some of it functions a bit better. I hope you're all having an enjoyable All Saints' Wake!
