I keep seeing that people want harder 4 person content and I agree with that. Just wondering what some ideas are for that.
My ideas are the following.
Maybe even patches like 5.2/5.4 add a new dungeon in one and trial in the other.
The dungeon is a little longer than normal, gives more tomes, gil, and maybe a chance at a unique minion and mount at the end. Not the same mobs, boss, mobs, boss, mobs, and boss formula.
Dungeon spreads the party apart at the start and they have their own things to accomplish on the way to the first boss. Dps need to kill multiple enemies, healers need to keep some npc alive, tanks need to use CDs to stay alive.
On the way to the last boss everyone is together but there is 3 paths to the final boss. One path is harder on the tank, have to really use your CDs and enmity skills, another is for healers enemies will use multiple AOEs, the last is for DPS, hard DPS checks.
Also after you clear the path you can return and do another path or just go the final boss.
As for the "5.4" trial.
It gives tomes, gil, and a decent weapon or an item that you need 2-3 of for a weapon.
Single strong boss that has 4 phases. First is a hard dps check, dps need to use everything in their arsenal. Like I'm a dragoon main. I need to take full advantage of Dragon Sight, Lance charge, Battle Litany, maybe even a potion.
Second phase is for healers, multiple status affects will be dealt, some attacks will cause a DoT on an ally and the only way to counter it is a regen, boss will be much weaker to healers attacks.
Third phase is focused on the tanks, multiple mobs that hit hard the tank needs to pick up, OHKO attacks the tank needs to use their invulnerable skill with, only notice is the boss's animation, no floor sign or attack name.
Final phase is a combinations of all. A true team work experience .
Neither of these are required for the story, just a side story. The tomes are equal to expert roulette, gil is a few hundred thousand, plus the minion/mount, and weapon.
I still think the game needs to focus on the 24 man raids and the 12 part 8 man raids. But I really like the idea of a hard dungeon and trial for 4 people parties.
