I've been playing AST a lot since the expac came out (I always have 1 tank / 1 dps / 1 healer for adventurer in need). I played AST when it came out in Heavensward and since then it's my main healer.
Just getting the TL: DR out of the way: I'm really enjoying having the other cards and I like the new system.
It gives me a layer of complexity with the extra cards and frees up my time to DPS more. I feel far more like a card wielding astrologian than I have since Heavensward. It can be improved, but I really like this system and I hope they keep it going forward.
I actually loved the changes they made with the DPS only cards in ShB, because those were the only useful cards I had back then. I hated it when I didn't get Balance and Arrow / Spear were such a far second place. The other cards, well I thought they were useless and just tossed them out whenever.
However, with bigger pulls, new tanks / players under geared - it's been a blast to toss out cards like a Yugioh player! I find the other cards very useful and I don't mind at all the loss of the random feature so far.
I was very very critical of this new change and thought all you nerds crying about losing those lame cards were crazy, but I gotta say - I'm really happy they brought them back, and in this case, I was definitely wrong about discounting the other cards as much as I did.
I only have 2 complaints - 1. The card draw animation is so lame imo. I wish it incorporated the three cards in the hand more or even a fun drawing of the 3 cards like /bstance does. Throwing out the arm, grabbing the cards for half a second, then throwing the hand out in front looks so stupid to me lol. 2. I do miss the seals system. I understand it's been distributed throughout the class and that's fine, but I really liked feeling rewarded for doing a good job with my cards. Yes, the reward now is I get to take better care of my team when I use the cards well, but still I wish there was like an ultra card I got after drawing both sets.
All in all, I really enjoy this design. I'm actually using all of my cards instead of hoarding them and forgetting them (looking at you Lady card). Great change so far!
