There's currently a bug where during the 'Hall of Novice's training exercise “Avoid Area of Effect Attacks”, Holmgang initiated by the enemy would not expire, resulting in the objective to fail.'
A workaround is to speak to the NPC when you would be pulled in by the spell, negating its effects and thus allowing you to complete it.
