In playing Final Fantasy 14 for over a month, I've come across quite a few grammatical errors in the text. This is a major one that is a bit more difficult to explain. During the opening cutscene, you are asked a question with four possible answers. Depending on your answer, you will receive one of the four special starting rings.

No answer or skip cutscene = Ring of Freedom = Determination +1.

Fortune = Ring of Fortune = Crafting CP +8.

Power = Ring of Fortitude = critical hit +1.

Glory = Ring of Fidelity = vitality +1.

The issue here has to do with the meaning of both Fortitude and Fidelity.

Fortitude means resilience. Typically, resilience to pain. Which can be associated mostly to tank style gameplay.

Fidelity means accuracy and exact detail. Which can be associated mostly to rogue style gameplay.

Fortitude has to do with resilience. Therefore, the name "Ring of Fortitude" corresponds to an item intended for tank style gameplay. Which would make more sense to give a bonus to vitality. Not a bonus to critical hit.

Fidelity has to do with accuracy. Therefore, the name "Ring of Fidelity" corresponds to an item intended for rogue style gameplay. Which would make more sense to give a bonus to critical hit. Not a bonus to vitality.

So in regards to the grammatical labeling, the names of both rings should be switched to properly reflect the bonus they give.
The ring that gives the vitality bonus should be called "Ring of Fortitude".
The ring that gives the critical hit bonus should be called "Ring of Fidelity".

Please consider switching the names of these rings. Therefore, current owners of either one of these rings will have the more proper grammatical name. So for users who own the ring with vitality bonus, it will now be called Ring of Fortitude instead of Ring of Fidelity. And for users who own the ring with critical hit bonus, it will now be called Ring of Fidelity instead of Ring of Fortitude. Likewise, new users will receive the ring with the name that grammatically corresponds to the bonus it gives.

CURRENT (grammar mistake):
Power = Ring of Fortitude = critical hit +1.

Glory = Ring of Fidelity = vitality +1.

NEW:
Power = Ring of Fortitude = vitality +1.

Glory = Ring of Fidelity = critical hit +1.

I really hope this can be fixed to reflect the properly corresponding grammar. Thank you.
