Before I get into this thread, "date" in this context is just silly fun and doesn't have to be taken romantically! Think the Valentoine's events. Also, the duties would set the time to night, with a weather of "fireworks".
One of the more memorable goofy parts of FFVII was the Gold Saucer date, where Cloud could go on a date with Barret, Aeris, Tifa, or Yuffie, depending on your behaviour in the game prior. Why not bring this goofy fun to FFXIV? It can be a nice way to bring players together and have some silly non-combative fun! Thus I present...
Gold Saucer Date Night
You and a party member (matched through duty finder or premade) participate in three randomly-selected GATEs in succession, and all of them encourage your cooperation! They are all based on existing GATEs, changed for two players, and in such that a player strong in a particular activity can carry the weight if needed.
Air Force One
Two cross-hairs are present for both players and functions more like a co-op railshooter arcade. There is a lot of potential for fun here, like player-coloured targets worth more if a particular player shoots them, or situations where meanies (Gold Saucer automatons and employees) need to be dealt with while you aim for the targets.
Cliffhanger
Both players need to reach the top. An NPC to send you back on if you fall off is no longer needed, though there is more climbing. To make it less punishing, a player can let down ropes at various points to help your partner climb if they are having a hard time.
Any Way The Wind Blows
Now Ultros joins the fray to thwart those pesky adventurers! Every round Ultros will attempt to drop a weight on the players. In this version you have control when Typhon appears, but its snorts are larger. and often cover the whole arena. You can stand behind the weights dropped by Ultros, or one player can pick it up and act as the barrier for the other player.
Leap Of Faith
Only one player needs to reach the goal. However, the obstacle course now has a number of gates that require activation of a lever to progress. Your cooperation is required!
The Slice Is Right
This is like the usual, but with a twist. The Daigoro rounds are replaced, and instead various legendary swords are dropped on the arena. You can pick them up and bring them to him between rounds. What you want to do is find which is the Excalipoor, sabotaging his efforts to cut the bamboo.
Why should I queue for this?
On-top of the performance-based MGP, you get a reward for completing all three. It would also have a weekly reward. Perhaps an extra Cactpot ticket you can have in addition to your three per week! While Wondrous Tails have thus far have combat-focused duties, it could also include Gold Saucer Date Night. Surely the Warrior of Light could spin this into a most riveting tail to sate Khloe's thirst for blood and destruction.
