Let's face it: FFXIV's active player population isn't as high as it used to be, resulting following consequences:
- It becomes really difficult to find yourself a static for a content other than most recent raids, and even for them month or two after release search will be a struggle.
Especially on not as populated data centers (look Crystal, a lot of people reporting massive struggles finding raiding groups)
- Non prime time duty finger can take you literally half hour to wait
- Party finder parties outside of prime time and actual raid content filling extremely slowly if at all.
Additionally, it's very frustrating when you have already played for a while, made new friends, and then you discover that some of your other friends play ffxiv too but on another data center and there is just no way for you both to play together without doing some permanent changes like moving worlds which leads to breaking communication with your FC, static and other friends.
My suggestions would be:
- Break the borders completely and allow free visits between every single world, including cross-region visits.
- Party finder changes: rather than adding new tabs, make only "public" and "private" tabs. Additionally add a filter that will allow enable or disable separaty party categories: "global", "region", "data center" and "world", which player can enable or disable to show separately.
- In duty finger add an option similar to language selection which will allow you to select data centers you will be matched with, defaulting to your region's data centers
- If there are market concerns, disable market board access while in another data center.
