Recently I have taken part in the housing system and the decorating that accompanies it, overall, very solid, a few things I wish we could do was alter the house internal walls to rearrange the upper and middle floor (large house) but that isn't really my main complaint.
The most glaring issue is the presence of large tables/surfaces (wooden loft, Royal Plotting Table, Knightly Round Table, etc...) and the inability to put items on them that are not listed as "Tabletop" even though their size is clearly smaller than the table surface. I cant put Oasis Cushions on the stage, or the newer Indoor Oriental Garden on any surface larger than its already small footprint. This is highly irritating since I can see multiple items that would look good together but because of a seemingly arbitrary classification I am unable to make things flow in the way I intend.
One other small thing, we can't place Wall-Mounted items on the pillars that we place or even the ones that are part of the house. Also defeating and seemingly arbitrary that it is somehow excluded.
