If you are at 3rd place in a frontlines match, you should be attacking/stealing base/objectives from 1st place, not 2nd.
I feel like this is some kind of gut feeling like "Can't beat them so might as well try for 2nd place", but this is the wrong approach.
From the PoV of the 1st team, the only threat to their win is the 2nd team, not the 3rd. If you decide to attack the 2nd to attempt to steal their placement, you are putting them in a position of 2x1. Not only this leaves 1st unchecked to score extra points, but also makes 2nd bite the loss and turn on you.
Why attack the 1st then? By doing this you are also putting them in a 2x1 positon!!! This is a huge pressure that makes them lose points, stalling the match enough for you to score extra. Also, as I said before, their immediate threat is the 2nd team, fighting 3rd won't be a priority on their list.
So please stop throwing the matches like this.
Bonus tip: Healers are the most important players in your group, if your party is full DPS, you have pretty much lost from the get go. 2-3 healers per party is the recommended.
