Shadowlands has managed to turn me off of WoW, and I got to looking at FFXIV. I know that FF is a much more story centric game than WoW, but something stood out to me, and that's Free Companies and player housing.
Now, I've played EVE. Nullsec EVE. IE, "second job you have to pay for" EVE. As bad a game as EVE is, the sense of community is amazing. Because the stakes are very real. It takes real cooperation and trust and responsibility to build an alliance.
I'd like to know if there's something like that in FFXIV. If the meta around free companies resembles in some way the meta around alliances in EVE.
