Former WOW raider - now current FFXIV enjoyer

I decided to give this game a try - War Within seemed a bit away and to be honest the little I'd see of the game looked ...well ...not good? (I'd put it another way but people might get offended). I bought the trial. Decided after about 6 hours I'd just buy the goddamn thing and did so. I've now shamelessly bought the CE keys for all the dumb pets (I guess I'm a whale?).

For the last two weeks I've been working on playing a bit more than normal since I've been on vacation (I work from home so ...playing isn't that huge of a deal for me anyway). But I've hit the gas the last 2 weeks pretty hard. I blame Heavensward for the obscene amount of time I spent in this game the last 2 weeks. Probably an average of 6-7 hours a day. I'd say to myself "OK we're going to THIS FAR then quit for the day and go work out" then I'd get there and go "eh ...what's another 30 minutes?".

Heavensward is no exaggeration - the best MMO story I've played in my lifetime. It's like a really great book (the cinematography is pretty banger too). I've had numerous occasions to quit playing and decided to stick it out because the story demands I see what happens next.

I'm now on Stormblood literally just about to begin it. I'm trying hard but not slavishly to do the content the way people did it back then. So to that end I've gone through ARR and done the EX trials. I have not been able to get anyone together to do Coils yet - for whatever reason that one is a bit harder. I've gone through HW and suffered the emotional vampirism that is that expansion and completed most but not all of the trials there on EX. I've gone through the "dark boy" raid but not the one in Goblin town yet. I"ve done the warring triad on "hard" and extreme.

Needless to say I told my WOW guild I will not be returning to raid in this, the tenth year? Twelfth year? Something year? I've played WOW. I'm done. Screw WOW. All I wanted was a game that had a compelling story with baddies whose motivations made sense. This game is that in spades.
