Well...
I expected to make the next battle voice lines video in a couple of months or something, because as mentioned before, I'm super-lazy.
However... In an absolutely spontaneous urge, I've done it right now. I made the last arranged Battle Voice Lines video for Stormblood in one go: The complete Return to Ivalice raid series with all voiced bosses' voice lines.
I expected it to take about 3-4 hours for me to do the videos, but in the end it took me 7 hours to arrange everything in the correct order and place the voice line snippets at a fitting spot on the music track.
Anyways, enough talk, here are the videos:
And while I'm at it I'm giving my few cents to the voice acting, since this is so far my most favourite set of voice lines in FFXIV. Remember though, that this is just my personal opinion and you could have a completely valid and totally different taste:
Argath Thadalfus:
Yiazmat:
Mustadio:
Agrias:
Thunder God Cidolfus Orlandeau:
Cherub Ultima the High Seraph:
If you stuck through all this tl;dr, thanks a lot. Feel free to voice your opinion on the VA as well and also feel free to comment on the videos as well

- Return to Ivalice (Japanese)
- Return to Ivalice (English)
- Return to Ivalice (German)
- Return to Ivalice (French)
And while I'm at it I'm giving my few cents to the voice acting, since this is so far my most favourite set of voice lines in FFXIV. Remember though, that this is just my personal opinion and you could have a completely valid and totally different taste:
Argath Thadalfus:
- Japanese: Sounds amazing. Especially "Daaku Altima!" always gives me chills
- English: Sounds good, but sadly no "Dark Ultima!". Why tho?
- German: Usually German dubs of anime/'ish games sound like crap. But this one sounds pretty good. "Dunkel Ultima!" sounds kinda dumb though.
- French: Maybe that's just me, but I somehow can't take an evil monster speaking in French seriously. But anyway, I think the French VA pretty much nailed it and sounds super awesome. "Tenèbres Ultime!" sounds like something completely different, but still better than "Dunkel Ultima!"
Yiazmat:
- Japanese: Sounds like your basic japanese giant monster. Nothing special, but still sounds good.
- English: The voice acting here is just awesome. The VA totally nailed it, still giving Yiazmat that bangaa lizard voice in the background
- German: The voice's baseline might sound a bit generic, however it has a LOT of personality and I think this VA is just awesome
- French: Maybe it's because my French isn't the best, but to me this one sounds as basic as the Japanese one. No personality, some decent passion and the lizard'ish voice is not present at all. Not bad, but not very good either.
Mustadio:
- Japanese: I dunno why, but the sound itself sounds kinda muffled in the Japanese dub. Other than that, it just sounds cool. I love cybernetic voices. Also "Rokku on!" °smugs excitedly°
- English: Daaamn this voice is soooo good. Yes, you guessed it, Mustadio's cyber-voice appeals a lot to me, but in this case, somehow the VA managed to give the voice even some personality, which sounds amazing
- German: Since German is my mother tongue, I understand this one best and it might add some bias to it. Can't really decide if English or German sounds better to me, but I really love this VA. Especially the line "Jetzt kracht's!" sounds super fancy and gives him so much more personality, that it just makes me happy
- French: Whoa damn, French voice actor. You did an awesome job here! Mustadio sounds amazing in French and even though I can't understand a word, I feel a lot of personality and passion in it. The only problem I have with it is, that a lot of lines are considerably shorter than in the other VA's. If they were a bit longer and I could understand more, I think this one could even rank #1 in Mustadio voices for me
Agrias:
- Japanese: One of the few voices I do not like here. This VA sounds so utterly basic. When I hear this voice, it could be anything from a random peasant woman, to a priestess, to your local hairdresser, but I would never instantly think of a knightess
- English: Like a 180° turn this VA sounds unbelievably good. When I listen to it, I instantly think of a proud knightess and the voice has so much personality in my opinion
- German: And another 180° turn. This is one of the worst VA's of the whole Ivalice raid, if there wasn't one other that is even worse. Agrias here sounds like a little angry girl. Extremely childish, like some generic damsel in distress and it doesn't fit her character at all.
- French: I'm torn here. On one hand she sounds like an angry little brat in the French dub, but she still sounds much more believable as a knightess than the German one. Solid rank #2 I'd guess, because the English VA is so good and both the Japanese and German VA's sound pretty bad
Thunder God Cidolfus Orlandeau:
- Japanese: Honestly? This one is the Japanese voice I like the least. If Agrias was already pretty basic, TGC sounds like the most generic and basic "evil dude/generic demon king" you could pull out of any anime from 1950 until today. There is zero personality to this voice and as a metaphorical comparison lets even Zenos feel like a well-written and interesting character
- English: And yet another 180° turn. The English VA for TGC sounds absolutely superb and has a pretty amazing personality, even though I don't think it's the best of all, because he kinda lacks that "old man" feel in the voice, but other than that it's awesome
- German: Damnit, I think this one is the best German VA I've ever heard, if not the best at all. Not only does TGC sound absolutely amazing, plus has a lot of personality in his voice plus has that smoky, rough touch that displays Cid's older age, but it also has a breathtaking passion I've never ever experienced from a German voice actor before. It's absolutely fantastic
- French: I do not like the French dub here much. It definitely sounds better than the Japanese, but he sounds a little bit too angry for my taste, which hurts the personality a bit. Other than that it's a solid voice acting.
Cherub Ultima the High Seraph:
- Japanese: Pretty basic as well, but a LOT better than the 2 before. Also, that quirk of Ultima speaking like an emotionless construct was pulled off pretty well
- English: It kinda gives me chills. The VA is extremely good and I would say, it's the best of the 4 here.
- German: Just wow. I absolutely have no words, for how bad this voice acting is. Like literally, I've never ever heard a worse voice acting before. Cherub Ultima does not sound like an emotionless menace, nor like a frightening monster, nor anything. What she sounds like, is like an utterly bored voice actress who didn't wanna take this job and not only put zero effort, but negative effort into this voice acting. I still cannot believe, that SE let this pass. Even if you don't understand a single word in German, you will surely get, what I mean. This one lets even the German Agrias voice sound absolutely perfect.
- French: After the German VA anything sounds better, but the French VA here is pretty good. I'd even rank it above the Japanese VA, but she sounds a bit too angry for my taste, so she barely loses to the English VA
If you stuck through all this tl;dr, thanks a lot. Feel free to voice your opinion on the VA as well and also feel free to comment on the videos as well
