I've mained DRG since I started in late HW, then also picked up healers so those were the only real jobs I've understood for a long time and as a healer I've often had a lot of frustration at DPS for doing some stupid things. I finally understand why some DPS play the way they do.
Tanks used to sound so intimidating back then, but they've gotten really simplified so the combat portion isn't as hard as the role portion. But both are actually pretty easy. For example when I started people use to say " use flash 5 times to secure aggro" but now aggro management really doesn't seem like that big of a deal in dungeons. The DPS stance is gone too. Pretty straightforward now, and I haven't really seen many bad tanks in ShB.
Ranged DPS is kinda relaxing due to having all that mobility but aside from machinist I found myself glued to the hotbars looking for procs. Playing DNC made me want to get really close to enemies, a habit which carried on towards MCH and BRD. Once I got away from that habit I noticed myself doing that thing where I stand as far away from the healer as possible. I now understand how easy it is to do that since your position doesn't matter as much, you just keep moving as needed.
I didn't level SMN (due to playing SCH), and RDM was simple yet satisfying to play and one of my favorite jobs. Nothing to note here.
But BLM...wow. I finally understand just how tough this job is. It's really fun to play as, against a dummy. When you fight against bosses though shit gets real. I now understand why y'all just don't move sometimes and I forgive you. Probably the most satisfying and challenging job in the game IMO.
For melee DPS, not much to note for most of them. DRG is straightforward and something I know well. NIN is really nice to play, I like the caster elements it has. SAM is pretty satisfying to play, but I question how anyone can do low DPS on this job. I've seen a few.
MNK though, was again like BLM. All those positionals are frustrating, losing greased lightning is irritating as hell (used to feel this with DRG's eyes but they've gotten improved significantly). Unlike BLM though it does not feel too satisfying to play and is probably my least favorite job in the game. Cool animations at least. For melee DPS in general I feel like what I need to keep in mind is to charge the boss ASAP and not just dick around waiting for people's buffs to fall off (keeping in mind healer's mana first of course).
TL;DR it's just a lot of little things that you never really notice without playing the job yourself. I'm probably going to stick with DRG and healers and tanks but I should be better at them now having done all this.
And I know some of the things I mentioned are mitigated by QoL abilities or traits the jobs get later, but still worth keeping in mind considering how often the game encourages you to do lower level content.
