I recently decided to look at the Final Fantasy wiki to see what Jobs from previous games have or haven't been added to FFXIV out of curiosity and because I was thinking about what new jobs could be added next expac, for the sake of speculation and discussion in general I decided to journal it here alongside my thoughts.
FF1 - All Final Fantasy 1 jobs have been added, though Warrior/Knight are what turned into Paladin and the Wizards/Master are just their original classes essentially.
FF3 - Most jobs from Final Fantasy 3 have been added most of them aren't exact pulls from 3, Astrologian is somewhat a mix of Geomancer and Time Mage (from FF5), Ranger is similar to Archer and Viking to Warrior, though it is possible those two can be made into different classes (imo)
FF5 - From FF5 also most jobs have been added. Mystic Knight, Mime, Beastmaster, Chemist, Necromancer and Cannoneer are all classes that haven't been added. Mime, Beastmaster* and Necromancer could be limited jobs, and people do request Beastmaster a lot, Chemist and Cannoneer both have places in the lore they could be pulled from (Ul'dah/Sil'dih and Limsa respectively), Interestingly, Mystic Knight would also have already a place in the lore it could be, given how it is dressed in V they could've adapted it to come from either Radz, Dalmasca or Ala Mhigo (Not saying that they are culturally similar only that the Mystic Knight aesthetic could be adapted to be from either of those places if added to XIV), but they didn't add it in either of the expansions where those places came to focus.
FF X-2 - Here, out of the classes missing in XIV we have: Gun Mage, Alchemist and Gambler. Gun Mage is interesting, Alchemist is a repeat from Chemist in 5 and Gambler also references FF6 (And could also be a cool RNG class since Astro no longer has RNG grrr)
FF XI - Ranger, Puppet Master and Rune Fencer are the jobs not in XIV, I haven't played XI so I don't have much to comment on here.
FF XII - All of the Jobs here are somewhat represented
FF Tactics - Chemist, Orator and Arithmetician for the first game. Hunter, Illusionist, Morpher, Alchemist, Snuggler, Bishop and Elementalist for Advance. Seer, White Monk, Cannoneer, Trickster, Spellblade, Green Mage and Juggler for A2. Druid and Viking for S. In Total FF tactics, despite all the Ivalice references in XIV, is the series with most jobs not yet added to XIV
Lastly I want to note the ones that repeat: Ranger, Viking, Beastmaster*, Mystic Knight/Spellblade/Rune Fencer, Chemist/Alchemist and Cannoneer are all Job archetypes that appear multiple times throughout this list. Though of course this also not mentioning the individual party members which could serve for inspiration for classes like Relm was for Pictomancer.
All in all there's still so much that FFXIV could cover, and I'm very excited to see what gets brought in. Personally a tank Spellblade and a Ranged Chemist would be very interesting, Gambler would be pretty cool too. As a side question, which of these jobs would you like to see and as what roles?
*Beastmaster is already announced to be added as a limited job during the 7.x patch cycle, guess I just forgor about that
