While thinking about FFXIII and its 10 years after its initial launch, I was remembering the old collaboration event. Back then I didn't realized, but while rewatching some gameplay videos I saw how Lightning's combat style was the same one from XIII, so I came with a new limited job idea.
* Limited job: Commando (COM)
* Role: Melee DPS/All-Rounder
* Weapon: Shifting Gunblade (XIII/XIII-2 Lightning's weapon)
Details
A limited job based in XIII's Paradigm Shift battle style. It would use a gunblade as a weapon, but unlike Gunbreaker's (VIII-like gunblades), Commando's gunblade would be like the XIII ones. That means, it would be a hybrid between physical and ranged, using the sword form for melee attacks, and the gun shooting function for physical ranged attacks.
Its role would be All-Rounder (Melee DPS by default). While BLU needs to "copy" the desired role from another player, COM would be able to change roles through stance skills at any time, like with the “Paradigm Shift” system (though obviously, if you change from Tank stance to DPS or Healer while tanking an enemy, sure you will be killed xp).
Tank stance would be based on Sentinel role. Melee and Ranged DPS would be based on Commando role (Melee using sword form, Ranged using gun form). Magic DPS would be based on both Ravager and Saboteur. And Healer would be based on both Medic and Synergist.
Healer's buffs from Synergist skills would be carried on when changing back to another stance.
Skills
Just like BLU, COM’s actions/abilities would not be learned by leveling, but by another way. COM would make use of a new system similar to the XIII's Crystarium or X's Sphere Grid, allowing us to learn actions by advancing on those tree-like advancement systems.
Obviously, this means that once more we'll have to farm. While BLU was all about "farming enemies to learn actions", COM would be a more classic XIV farming: FATEs or other activities to obtain “Lux” (like with the Relics) which would be used to unlock actions, abilities, and traits from the COM's “job tree” system. (Maybe also include my idea about the FATE log from time ago for this).
So, that would be all. An all-rounder limited job based on XIII's battle and advancement systems, (as for those who just doesn't like limited jobs, no one is forcing you to play them, wait the next expansion for real jobs).
