Hello Everyone,
First, I am proposing a service outside of Player Finder. This idea originally came about; 1, because I have ADHD; and 2, because I am HORRIBLE at the standard grind of crafting and playing the market in order to make Gil.
First, before any judgment, I did actually reach out to the GM Team back in January about this and it was not declined. Instead, I was encouraged to make a feature suggestion post by them. Also yes, I did have AI rewrite it for the sake of effective communication.
Proposal: Player Contracts System – Empowering Adventurers Through Player-Given Quests
For over a decade, FFXIV has connected players through story, exploration, and generosity. This proposal introduces a Contract System — a secure, immersive feature that allows players to assist or hire each other for gil through structured agreements. Think Party Finder meets Player-Given Quests — intuitive, story-rich, and community-first.
Core System Mechanics
- Toggle a “Contractor Available” icon (like Mentor status) to signal availability for hire.
- Initiate a Contract Window (like a trade), where:
- The client chooses a service (e.g., crafting, coaching, dungeon clears).
- The contractor sets or negotiates a fee.
- Both parties agree and sign.
Escrow Safeguard
- Gil is placed into escrow when the contract is formed.
- Funds are held securely until the service is complete.
- Completion verified via dual confirmation or system event (e.g., duty clear).
- If canceled early, gil is refunded to the client. Prevents abuse or nonpayment.
Player-Given Quests This system turns everyday interactions into immersive, player-made quests:
- “Escort a new adventurer” becomes a Sprout Patrol.
- “Craft my glam set” becomes a Tailor’s Request.
- “Teach me Reaper rotation” turns into a Mentor’s Trial.
With optional titles, achievements, or commendations for active contractors, the game rewards helpfulness and builds organic progression outside combat.
Housing = Contract Hubs Imagine FC Halls or personal apartments serving as quest lodges — walk-in requests, RP-driven commerce, live interactions. It repurposes housing districts into lively social economies.
This system:
- Provides official, secure tools for legitimate player assistance.
- Reduces demand for RMT by offering an in-game, rule-abiding alternative.
- Encourages safe, transparent gil exchanges without fear of gray-area penalties.
Why This Fits FFXIV FFXIV thrives when empowering players to engage on their terms:
- Island Sanctuary promotes self-paced creativity.
- Explore Mode reimagines dungeons for roleplay and storytelling.
- Duty Support opened doors for solo and social play alike.
The Contract System follows that legacy—rewarding connection, service, and storytelling in ways no other MMO does quite this well.
