Chill Peeps is a company of sarcastic, mellow, and (we hope) mature people. I won’t try to speak for the whole company here. Instead, I’ll give you my own impressions.
I joined Chill about 3 or 4 months ago. I was about 4-5 companies removed still not really sure where I fit. A lot of the companies I joined were cliquey and I didn’t really feel welcome. It always felt like I was on the outside of an inside joke, so I just didn’t feel compelled to talk or make friends there. The other few I joined tried to force the idea of FAMILY down my throat. I just joined 10 minutes ago but we’re FAMILY now. That usually just meant that my crafting services or dungeon help was not only free, but expected. No thanks needed. I don’t know about you, but family is earned and helping out is a choice. I don’t need applause when I help, but the nagging expectation when I’m in the middle of a dungeon or a project is frustrating. We don’t play games to be frustrated.
With Chill, I didn’t feel like I was on the outside of a clique. I was welcomed warmly and they were surprised when I wanted to help. Our leader still gives me little excited gasps when I put in extra effort, because the company does not demand or expect it. We’re all just there to make friends and conversation. A few of my friends just started the game two months ago and joined in Chill with me. So if you’re a new player, you’ll be among others asking similar questions. If you’re a returner, we can reminisce about how hard the Turns of Bahamut once were, and lament about how long we spent farming Darklight Armor by repeatedly bashing our faces against the same two main scenario quests for tomes.
My point is, a lot of free companies are throwing up the same message trying to get you to join and you’ll join and it may or may not be a proper fit. Hell, you might not even fit in with Chill either, but you’ll probably make a few friends for the experience.
What I can offer is that as long as you’re in the company and trying to grow, you’ll have people to play with that are looking to grow too. If you need armor and the market board is outrageous, hit me up and I’ll get you set up. Leveling crafting or gathering and have questions? I’ve been there too. So come make some friends.
You can hit me up in game, I’m Aeirou Orlay, or you can submit an application and I’ll have you in as soon as I can.
Either way, I hope you enjoy your day and good luck finding where you fit.
