I'm not trying to become one of you.
I'm just here trying to get AST to 80, to have one healer so I can say I did it. The healer role has never been one that I've felt comfortable with, and I'd much rather leave this brand of stress to the professionals.
And yet here come the Shadowbringers dungeons, where my kit's finally coming together as I approach what's supposed to be the end of this journey. Here comes a silly little moment that completely changed how I look at the healer role.
It was Holminster with 2 veterans and someone brand new to the dungeon. We were on the second boss and it was time for her to scream out two groupwide AoEs back-to-back. Celestial Intersection covered the first nicely, and as I got ready for the second, I realized: Earthly Star was going to time out right after the cast, and everyone was inside.
The timing was an accident, the group was good at sticking nearby in general, but that little moment... It felt like a game between the Boss and I. She wanted to kill my teammates, it would be bad form if I let her, and having her mechanics so efficiently dealt felt like a far greater victory than I ever expected.
And now it's got me prepping gear for level 80, now I'm wondering if I know the Raids and Trials well enough to counter on purpose, instead of just accidentally. Don't do this to me, Healers. I just wanted to play card tricks and hang out with a drunken dwarf, I'm not prepared to actually BE a healer.
