Wanting to provide some feedback as i feel the narrative that DT story was bad, is that because it lacks a weight of the world ending crisis. The problem i feel is the inclusion of the last 2 maps, the entire Alexandria arc, the techno digital stuff is so jarring and uninteresting compared to Tural. The first half of DT was excellent and I was loving the thrill of adventure and exploration in a new setting. The jungle, pirate, eldorado style adventure was working so well until the introduction of the dome and Alexandria. DT so quickly turns into a boring slog of purple and black maps, with dull techno mumbo jumbo thrown in to make things "complicated and mysterious" but it was just boring. I hated every mission in the last 2 zones and I have never hated a zone before in FF14. I hoped they would be like the last 2 zones in Endwalker (i.e. we'd never go back to them or reference them) but alas the Alexandria stuff drags on.
We were promised (the promotion material, the trailer, the DT gear) this piratey/explorer theme of adventure in an Aztec/Inca/South America style new world, where is all the dinosaur mamoolja like from the Wanderers Palace Hard dungeon that came from Tural and we were expecting to explore alongside? I get the Devs wanted do the unexpected but it is really very jarring and uninteresting.
Please make more of, and continue the content of the first 4 zones, stay true to your original idea do not feel the need to add in futuristic other reflections when we just want to explore Tural and yeah the story does not always need a world ending crisis to be fun. Thanks for reading
