Hi there, I'm struggling to play the game at all after the 7.1 Patch, even though I only have finished Endwalker main story and haven't even gotten to its updates yet because of these crashing issues.
It started in mid-November, as before the patch I was able to play the game normally and be on Discord call with my friends as we went through the single-player story together. After the patch, I would start running into issues where just while moving from place to place, the game would crash. And then we would get a bit more gameplay in, but then another crash. Then I couldn't even move from point A to point B without a crash. And then finally the game itself would just crash on the "Now Loading" screen.
I took a long hiatus from the game because of this, and now I want to play the new event and it simply won't let me, I've resubbed again and the problems never left. I've updated my drivers, I've cleared as much space as possible. I've reset system settings, I've restored game data, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I've updated my drivers, uninstalled many many other games, checked for any malware, I've cleared 38 GB on my /C: drive and have 713 GB free on the SSD the game is located on, lowered my graphics settings as low as I can set them, and I'm just at my wit's end at this point.
Before all this, I was playing the game normally on my SSD and now, after everything, the most successful attempt I've had so far with it has been when I was able to load back into Old Sharlayan today, but then when I used /return to go back to Ul'dah, the game crashed mid-teleport. And now upon trying to load into Ul'dah, I'm back at square one where the game just closes itself after reaching "Now Loading".
Here's all those tasty little tech details you want:
Platform - Windows 10 64-bit
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.19 GHz
Installed RAM 12.0 GB (11.8 GB usable)
Wired connection - Ethernet
ISP - Cox Fiber Home Internet (was just Cox Internet back in 2024 when this started)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA® Geforce® RTX 1650 (4GB)
SSD - (Where XIV is downloaded onto) 713 GB free of 931 GB (218 GB used)
Other programs - Chrome, Discord (crashing still occurs even when I've ended them as tasks and FFXIV is the only program I'm running, minimizing any other background processes.)
When error occurs/How often - Crash occurs after getting past Character Selection and happens after the "Now Loading" screen seems like it's ready to load my character into the server. It happens every time, and the one time today when I finally got in, it seems like it was because there were only a few characters in the area.
You can read above to see what methods I have used to try to resolve this on my own. ;u; Thank you, and I hope we can get this fixed for Valentione's. The game is not playable for me currently because of this. Let me know if I need to provide any other information.
