Controller problems while playing on PC

Recently i've had a few problems while playing on PC while playing the game on controller. it's been going on since about the release of 7.1, maybe a little before, but I definitely have noticed it more and more since 7.1 came out

My computer isn't bad by any means, I can run FFXIV and other games just fine at high settings and maintain 60+ FPS, however while playing FFXIV, and only FFXIV, at random times the game will completely freeze for a second or two before it gets to where it needs to be, it might happen once and then be fine for a bit or it might freeze another time or two right after before being okay again. As stated, this happens totally randomly, sometimes happening a few times an hour, sometimes not happening at all for an hour or two.

Looking online, I found that others have had this problem and have noticed a common theme of unplugging controllers will solve this. So to test it, I tried unplugging the controller and plugging it back in while walking around Gridania, and sure enough, the game froze in the same exact way when I did this. The problem is, I play the game on controller on my PC as I started on Playstation and then moved to PC when I built a new one. I love to do ultimate raids and PVP in game, and having this happen in those instances, which it already does, is going to lead to trouble in the future as they're both fast-paced, precise game modes.

Is there any workaround to this? It almost seems like the game is checking for a controller every now and then even though it's always connected. Like I mentioned, FFXIV is the only game I have a problem with this on. I run the game through Square's launcher on Windows, not Steam, and use a Dualsense controller if that helps at all.
