My first exposure to them was at the remembrance event, when they knew everything and kept talking smack about everyone. I was like "who are you exactly? I have no idea who you are. I'm assuming you have plot relevance, but I have literally never seen you." (I literally only realized months later that they were the untalkative pair on the boat in the starting cutscene. Sue me, I'm not very clever. Or observant.)
And then when I next saw them, it was that scene when they argued about the realm and Alisaie ended up ragequitting the Scions. They kept talking about their grandfather who was so powerful and above everyone apparently gave his life for the realm? They were so reverent about him that for some reason, I became convinced that their grandfather was an actual god, like a Greek one. Which would make the twins godlings (either like, god kids or demigods)... which fit perfectly with their haughty demeanor and their "everything is beneath me, but I still want to save this realm" attitude.
I snapped out of this (it gets a bit fuzzy, it was long ago) when the Scions mentioned their money problems and said the Levellieur twins were generous with the family coffer. I was like "...wait. They have a family coffer? THEY'RE ACTUAL PEOPLE???" And my worldview got completely shattered when I learnt Louisoix was just an elezen caster who saved the day at Cartaneau. RIP godling twins theory.
What was a similar wildly incorrect assumption you had?
