Can Just Rerouting With A Vpn Improve Latency?

I live in CO and was curious if I could use my vpn to improve my ping at all. I use Surfshark, and wondered if I could just connect to a certain region and it might help. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. Looking it up, I was having a hard time confirming the locations of SE servers and if a VPN (that isn't pingzapper) could have a positive effect. Thank you for any tips.
