So, many ppl remember the stat squish, which FFXIV team implemented because the numbers were too big. Now we have numbers even bigger than then, and it's only been 2 expansions since then.
I think the devs should do not only the stat squish, but also the potency and level squish as well.
Concerning the potency of skils : i don't know their formulas for calculationg damage, but holy crap, the potency numbers grow so fast for no goddamn reason every expansion. I'm not 100% sure, but there's probably a normal gcd finisher right now that would be one of the strongest skills in the game back in ARR. The potencies need to be squished alongside stats for more effectiveness.
Levels : currently we are in Dawntrail, with a max level of 100. I really doubt that devs will go to some separate leveling system and stay at 100, like some of the popular youtubers said. I think devs should do some streamlining of MSQ in all expansions (by cutting down most of the "sidequest-y" main scenarion quests) and cut down levels. For example, make ARR 1-30, HW 30-35, SB 35-40, etc. That way 8.0 will end at 60. Combined with stat and potency squish we'll go back to HW/SB numbers.
I understand that ppl like seeing big numbers and don't like to sit at one level for long while leveling, but if the big numbers were a problem before, they will become a problem again very soon, at the pace we going right now. I, too, like seeing 150k direct crits, but tbh it's just a matter of getting used to new number. After playing for a week after a squish we'll all probably like seeing the same direct crit font even if it's gonna be 15k instead of 150.
