Attendance proposal

I know invites are closed.. but man it was nasty last night, only a handful of LS people and final count was about 20 with people dual boxing.

Maybe we need to revisit invites and attendance in some form. maybe 2/4 city runs to lot northlands? something..

Saw that this morning. (Sorry yel and I weren't there last night but internet was out.) Lets do a few more runs and see if anything changes. Don't want to do anything in case it was a fluke. (Don't think it was but want to be sure.) Sorry things didn't go well last night.

Last night was.... an epic fail on attendance with way to much pavement death for everyone. Lexa really tried to get others to come but that just back fired and ended with people getting pissed at her for asking them to come along and give a hand. Really sad when people log their mules on to just sac pull or have their S/O's log on to help out with dieing. We did our best with what ppl and jobs we had. Somehow we got MB up and killed.... but other then that I know a few people who will be spending their free game time in campaign getting some safe buffer back (myself included)

Maybe it will be a good idea to open up invitees again for a bit and see how that pans out. I've spent my morning going over ALL the runs for the past 3 months. City attendance sucks, northland attendance is ridiculous.

Thank you Sass for zapping Jeuno's thread last night before I was able to post my thoughts because it was not so nice. lol Glad when I hit the submit button it said thread was closed.

Heie be glad you both missed it last night! You two would have been growing some gray hairs over there.

Well like I said lets see how the next few runs go before we do anything. Yel and I looking things over and trying to figure what we can do to get back to the point where all the runs were successful. I think if we do open it back up for invitees it will be a lot more selective then it was before.

Lets see how many people we have for glac vs windy in the upcoming week then go from there on what we should we do. As the last xarc wasn't so hot either.

yeah, as much as I'd like to say 'wait until northlands', the last xarc numbers were pretty bad.

I was planning on going but got caught up in the library writing a paper. What happened to all of those people we got clears for? I know we got at least a handful of people clears so they could do outlands.

I feel really bad for the sponsors ... It was obvious yesterday that if they ended up making anything it would be due to luck and nothing else. I know a couple of very much reliable players who need a Dyna. shell. Perhaps if the next run jokes out on us I'll give them a /tell.

last night was jeuno. we had a decent number of invitees last night as well. the run was pretty bad for AF and currency but we managed a clear for Preda which was nice.

I just cant handle runs on the laptop im terribly sorry hehe otherwise i would have been to faceplant with the rest

I honestly think last night was bad timing more than anything. There were a lot of people that just couldn't come, as opposed to people not wanting to come. We had a lot more missing than just the 4 or 5 in the 'I only do northlands' crowd.

That and it was Halloween weekend. I'm assuming this was a factor since people had parties, plans and whatnot. I wasn't really home much at all last weekend until I got there (late) to enter Dynamis, so I'm thinking it might have been the case last night for some people who were offline that normally attend (if that applies to anyone).

I agree last night was partially a fluke, but still - starting out with 14 people at gather together time is extremely discouraging, and would have resulted in a hefty gil loss for sponsor if SE hadn't lowered the hourglass fee. As it is, not meeting the 300 currency limit is frustrating in itself, even if you don't lose gil on it, because all the sponsors share sponsoring rights with the other sponsors, so completing relics will take literally years.

However, beyond the fluke/Halloween weekend/etc, I did go over the attendance lists for the last four northland runs, and the last four city runs, and did notice people who had showed to the northlands, but not to a single of the city runs. I also asked individuals to please please come help, as we had only two PLDs, one BRD, had to do some clever job-changing and dualboxing to have mages for the only DD party, and still got told "but I'm exping!" or "bleh, I hate Jeuno."

Here's a newsflash: DYNAMIS SUCKS! I have complete understanding for those people who have RL come up, or occasionally just don't freakin' feel like it. Nobody blames anyone for taking an night off every now and then. I do, because hey - DYNAMIS SUCKS! But believe it or not, we do notice the people who only take a night off when a city run is scheduled, and not when northlands is on the calendar. It's incredibly disrespectful to everyone else in Amitlu; to the people who help kill the mobs that drop your AF, to the people who work to put together the parties so you won't die horribly because you have mages, to the sponsors who pay for your freakin' hourglass.

That being said, thanks a bunch to the people who did come out. I saddled some people with crappy jobs and crappy tasks, and everyone lost a hilarious amount of exp (and I mean hilarious in the most sarcastic possible sense), but everyone there was being amazingly good sports about it.

I wasn't able to come last night due to being RL'd for all but an hour last night, like a few others. However, I'd like to say that I'm strongly opposed to new invites. I'd much, much rather see a strict attendance policy put in place than new faces popping up every couple months. I'm more than happy to get every single person currently attending Amlitu every piece of relic for all 18 jobs, but if we start replacing people who get relic and bounce, this just becomes just another open shell, and to be honest, my attendance will probably disappear like it did for DX.

People know my stance on attendance by now: attendance rules encourage people to come, not vice-versa.

I 100% whole heartly agree. But how do you make attendance strict and keep interest? There are some people who do come only when they can and it ends up being only 2-3 times a month. Those people I have np lotting. What I do have a problem with is the people only coming to zones that need a piece of AF and once they get that AF they stop coming to that zone. On top of that. Have notice some of our invitees who use to come to every zone are starting to pick and choose zones they need AF. And who can blame them when they see other people doing it and getting away with it. This is where the problem is.

I almost feel like we need to make a static dynamis with people we know will come when they can. And kick the people that picking runs. But this is wrong as it is not my personal shell. It is a ultima shell. So how do you stop people from only coming to a zone that need AF and turn it more into a static?

I would love for everyone to stick around till everyone has all 18 sets of AF. Along with everyone having both pieces of shadow gear. I am hoping the last few runs have been flukes. There are always bound to be some dry spells. Either way can't sit still just hoping that it is a dry spell because if it isn't, we need to do something. Open to any ideas people have. Everyone agreed from the get go we should have this a honor system but there is very little honor going around. Keeps looking like we need to put a point system or attendance policy in place.

As for attendance I am thinking of having it open up but make it very selective. Kinda like an application that they or an ultima member needs to summit. Like what is going on for shadowedge. IMHO he is someone who I think would be a great addtion to Amitlu.

Completely agree with this.

As to what Nekio said, I agree with you that more rules are needed however when I brought that up not long ago as a method to fix the problem with attendance it was shot down. In my opinion an attendance system of some kind is needed. No system is perfect but as I said in the Thoughts on Attendance thread, if some groups are going to be displeased by any system I would much rather put a system in place which rewards those who attend rather than the other way around. No support was shown for my idea, so...

Heie and I talked this morning about possible attendance systems which could be used. We will be in touch with sacs to discuss ideas.

As much as not having a system is awesome to it's own degree I'm all for having a point / attendance type of system. Also an app to join or at least a background check of some kind would be good if we did open it for all.

All of you who have been saying "Don't fix what's not broken" need to read between the line (not trying to be rude by any means) but some of us are worried because it is slowly breaking and we can see that.

Lots of ideas and opinions and I'd just like to echo what others are saying. A point system would be very fair globally.

Plus it makes sense, people who attend regularly should be reward for such diligence. If someone wants gear, they'll attend regularly as well. If a person will not help the LS regularly, why give them an even chance versus someone who is always there when needed?

I don't think a point system would turn away new members. It should pretty much be clear that everyone is rewarded fairly. Who doesn't want fairness in getting AF and such?

As for closing invitees, I don't think that's such a good idea. Last Jeuno on 11/1/08 pretty much exemplifies the need to keep the shell open. Having a point system guarantees that an open dynamis system isn't abused.

Well I came down hard on more invitees in my previous post, but in reality I'm only against it in the sense that this shouldn't be a "more invitees vs. new rules" choice. Inviting people is solving a symptom: lack of members currently. The disease is the lack of reasons for people to come to every run, which needs to be addressed. I have no problem inviting new people to fix the acute issue of not enough bodies, but only if we're looking at curing the root problem: getting people to come to pretty much every run that they're online for.

As for my suggestion: straight-up bidding point system. Person with the most points wins. Simple, easy, fair. Even if you can only come to half the runs, you'll get your uncontested Xarc relic. Right after the other people who helped out more do.

Point system: See you later.

'Nuff said.
