I know that with the new virus most people are staying at home but most people i have asked so far say that they have been experiencing massive lag. I am from Northern Europe and play on Jenova NA (since most of my friends are there) but the lag isn't really as bad as you'd expect (it's actually further from New York to Washington State than it is from me to New York). So i am used to play with around 200-400 ping, not entirely the best it could be but not really that bad. Of course there are bad days but they are few and far between.
I noticed that when crafting my macros wouldn't work, the cause of this that i would lose connection for like 2-3 seconds, enough to make me lag but not enough to disconnect me, but any action that a macro would send is skipped over if i lose the connection, thus the macro not working. Using a program called TCPview where you can view where all of your programs are connecting to, i pinged the IP address FFXIV was connecting to and was losing 8-25% of the packets sent with at the worst 400ms of lag on just normal pings. Though recently those pings have had no drops and with an average of 180ms~ Still i am experience the lag.
More notably every roulette i do we seem to wipe on at least one boss, with everyone complaining about the lag. Normally a random party would only fail on dungeons that actually require mechanics, like the final boss of Gubal, or The Right and Honerable King Moogle Mod the Twelveth of his name, (may his pom never wilt) but now, no matter what we do we fail one boss with people complaining about lag.
I know it's most likely server strain but... this can't be just me, right?
