Also, www.vote-smart.org is a good tool for looking for candidates in your state if you are like me and don't know what your candidates believe in and tend to vote for. Found out one of the Indiana senators really has views I like - essentially a moderate conservative, pretty far to the middle for a US Senator from Indiana (hard-core red state), which is nice.

Not caring about politics whatsoever is not a good way to fix the problem. Check out that website, I think a lot of people here will like what they see. Don't take a pessimistic "we cant change anything" approach. Thats a good way to get a whole lot of nothing done for our future. Only the American people can change America. Last I checked, I'm one of those people.

by imposing the commutative property is it; Vote or Skate?

Edit #2: By examining this ultimatum phemomena of death, voting and skating could you cancel both Skate AND vote? thus leaving you "Die or Die"? The answer is NO. This is because of the "Or" meaning that "Vote" is different from "Die" so in order to make an equation out of it you would have to say "Die and Die" However the 1st variable in the origional equations are NOT equal, we know this because "Voting and Skating" are not similar activities, nor can they be accomplished at the same time.

HOWEVER as we all know in Karate Kid 2 during the "O-bon" festival at the abandoned castle, Sato's nephew comes and tries to fight Daniel'san. This is different for Daniel because, This is NOT a tournament, this is not some sanctioned event, THIS IS FOR REAL. There are absolutly no rules protecting Daniel'san from a very brutal death at the hands of the nephew who has nothing to lose (having already lost his honor from his uncle Sato). In the end (SPOILER ALERT!) using the swinging arm drum technique Daniel heroically defeats the nephew (I think his name was Toshio). At this point Daniel asks Toshio the critical question: "Live or Die, Man?" To which Toshio responds "Die" and of course Daniel'san says "Wrong answer" and honks him in the nose in much the same way his sensei Miyagi'san did to John Kreese the cobra kai instructor in the parking lot after the Karate Invitational.

So to recap, our dynamic equations are:

Vote or Die
Skate or Die
Vote or Skate
Live or Die

By again manipulating the equation with the commutative property we see that in fact:

Vote or Die
------------ = Vote or Live (As well as "Skate or Live")
Live or Die


In conclusion, The world is a crazy crazy place, man

Edit 3: Now that I think about it. You can Both Vote AND Live as well as Skate And Live, but you cant Die And live. Im getting really confused...Kalia, please help me out, this demanding equation goes far beyond the limits of Math for Middle Childhood education.

Point 1: I think you meant transitive, not commutative. Commutative means that if A=B, then B=A. Transitive means that if A=B and B=C, then A=C.

Point 2: The "or" operator isn't transitive above. Example:

A or B (as used above) means If A doesn't happen, B will happen.

So let's say A or B and B or C. For "or" to be transitive, then we need A or C to be true.

But we can't make that conclusion, because if we start out assuming A doesn't happen, all we can conclude is that B does happen, and from there we can make no conclusion about whether or not C happens since the condition for B or C requires that B not happen.
 
well if your only option is that you Vote or Die, then

If you arent dead, then you have to be or have voted

and the same way with skating and living

so assuming that you arent dead then you have to be skating, voting and living.

and since Vote, skate, live is your only alternative to death, doesnt that make

Vote=skate=live?

so Voting is Skating
Skating is Living
voting is living?
