Hopped around a few FCs after returning to the game a few months ago, not a single one had any activity in the FC chat for the duration that I was there, its always just a small core clique of the FC in a discord. Even trying to join ex practice parties, a lot of them require joining a discord server. Discord is great but I'm usually chatting with my own friend group (none of whom play the game) and am not interested in using it in XIV at all. Call me antisocial, but I'm not interested in verbally chatting with strangers whenever I play the game.
Hell, I joined an innocence EX farm from PF a few days ago, was the first person to join, immediately after joining the leader links a discord server and asked if I wanted to chat, which was just incredibly bizarre to me considering this was from PF and in all likelihood I'd never see that player or anybody else who may have joined ever again in game. I just feel like it's a bit too much of an invasion of privacy in a way. Maybe years of working retail where I'm a captive audience for weirdos who come in and want nothing more than to just talk at me because they know I can't tell them to stop or leave has made me hesitant to engage with strangers. Just curious if anybody else feels the same or if I'm the odd one out.
