- "Character configuration → Display Name Settings → Others" allows the player to customize many aspects of how "Party Members" and "Alliance Members" nameplates appear during instanced content.
- Trust NPCs, despite being "virtual" or "artificial intelligence" Party Members, are not affected by the settings for "Party Members".
- Instead, Trust NPCs's nameplates are controlled by "Character configuration → Display Name Settings → NPCs tab → NPCs subsection".
- However, any modifications made to this section control the display of all non-hostile NPCs, and also does not allow selecting the "During Battle Only" option.
- Not having my Trust NPCs's nameplates active can make it slower or more confusing to locate them on the battlefield when I need to quickly identify their location, especially during heavy graphical effect, or inside large groups of monsters.
- However, turning on all NPCs's nameplates leads to excessive visual clutter in many situations (for example, FATEs with NPC assistants, or Dungeons such as "The Heroes' Gauntlet" where multiple non-partied NPCs clutter the battlefield).
- Also, having NPC nameplates either permanently on or permanently off, with no option to filter by being in-battle, is frequently distracting, annoying, unnecessary, and/or clutters screenshots.
- Therefore, it would be a large improvement to be able to enable only Trust NPCs's nameplates, and to be able to have them only show during battle. Or, to have Trust NPCs follow the same nameplate rules as those set under "Party Members".
