And what is really happening here is people are basically penalized for playing with friends in a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE GAME.
This idea that so-called "Premades" are nigh indestructable is plain wrong. Plenty matches I ran with a full group and we just got crushed because we were not paying attention to the map or the objectives, tunneling too hard, didn't have any/good healers... the list goes on. Same reasons a PUG will lose a match.
I get it, a lot of people who PvP in this game just do it for their achievement and currencies, but for all of stormblood really, It was literally the only content I'd bother with and win or lose I didn't care cause I just wanted to play with friends. Plenty others just geniunely, (hot take!), enjoy PvPing with friends.
Both the removal of 8man parties and 24man matches really hurt how active the game mode is. One or the other I could understand, but both just seems like terrible decision making. Catering to those who are casually, even reluctantly, playing PvP just for the sake of collecting glam stuff. Not listening to the playerbase who -actually- enjoys it.
And penalizing players for having friends they want to play the game with just makes no sense.
No one would actually play the game if you could only run extreme/savage/ultimate content with a light party and then queue up through duty/raid finder to PUG the rest.
