So I’m writing this since I wanted to say thank you and my brother thought it would be a great idea to share our story, we don’t know if Yoshi-P and gang will see this but here we go!
I come from a larger family, 4 out of 5 siblings. We were always close growing up but as we became adults so too did we start moving on with our lives. We now live in three different states (northeast, southeast and midwest) but still use Final Fantasy XIV to keep in touch. It’s how we celebrate holidays, birthdays and just generally hang out.
It was already hard before to visit as much as we used to with work and distance, but with the rise of COVID-19 it’s been even harder. Two of our three states have travel restrictions and all of our jobs have implemented travel restrictions so we can’t visit each other. Thanks to this game we’re able to still keep in touch virtually, as close to in person as we really can. We go on more just to hang out. We’ve gone fishing together, hunting together, saw a vow renewal and a wedding and even went shopping together all in game let alone all of the other options we have (roulettes, dungeons, raids, the works).
Without Final Fantasy XIV I don’t know how we would be able to really keep close, I guess by phone but it’s not the same. For us the game is another means to meet up and hang out like we did when we still all lived close by, and with the virus making that harder it’s even better that we have this.
So, we wanted to say that you to Yoshi-P and the entire staff of Final Fantasy XIV. Not only did you make a game with outstanding story, amazing visuals and smooth gameplay; but you created a world where I can still keep in contact with my family. Even though we’re hundreds of miles away from each other, we can still see one another and play together.
