Hey there!
We all know, that our beloved FF14 won´t work anymore on macOS Catalina.
I was disappointed as well when I figured this out ...
There is a solution until SE will finaly bring us one. Please use this only temporarily and head back to "original" state, when SE brought a fix.
All you have to do is disable SIP File Protection.
1) Open a terminal and type the following : csrutil status
You should see something like "Enabled" without any further message
2) Reboot your mac and press Command+R to head into recovery mode
3) When you in recovery mode, open a Terminal and type the following: csrutil enable --without fs
4) You´ll see a warning, but also, that SIP is enabled in a custom configuration
5) Reboot your mac (either by typing reboot into terminal or the usual way )
6) Back in Catalina, open a Terminal and type "csrutil status" again
You should see the following:
"System Integrity Protection status: unknown (Custom Configuration).
Configuration:
Apple Internal: disabled
Kext Signing: enabled
Filesystem Protections: disabled
Debugging Restrictions: enabled
DTrace Restrictions: enabled
NVRAM Protections: enabled
BaseSystem Verification: enabled
This is an unsupported configuration, likely to break in the future and leave your machine in an unknown state.
7) You are ready to play FF14 again
Disclaimer:
These steps and disabling the SIP FS happens at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage or faulty function on your system. Be sure to enable SIP FS again, when SE brought a fix
See a partial screenshot as a prove, that it works:
