Near the end of 5.3 Shadowbringers, The Exarch uses a spell called "Break" to stop the Shades of Light in their tracks so they wouldn't be able to pursue the Warrior of Darkness.
This has been on my mind for awhile, but it makes me wonder if this was a hint at The Exarch possibly being converted into a job class and my thoughts always jump towards the Job Class "Sage" because of the massive amounts of energy coursing through the Crystal Tower and how easier it makes for The Exarch to cast powerful and sometimes life threatening spells.
And if so, how would the The Exarch be converted successfully into a job class?
Lore wise, I could see The Exarch using the same trick he used to make the auricite soul transporters, by adding his blood and memories to a brand new and untouched Job Crystal and giving it to the Warrior of Light as a gift as a way of thanking them for not only saving the First but also bringing him back home.
Now possessing the "Soul of the Sage", the Warrior of Light now has access to the unlimited energy source of the Crystal Tower thanks to The Exarch's blood being infused with their Soul Crystal, along with his memories, granting the Warrior of Light a vast quantity of new and unheard of spells not yet seen before by Eorzean eyes! Most of which are extremely powerful and difficult to perform and simply not possible for other caster type Job Classes to execute due to not only the sheer concentrated amounts of aether they would need in order to even attempt casting them, but also decades upon decades worth of knowledge needed to understand the intricacies and complexities of each and every spell right down to the tiniest point in order to cast such spells without any mistakes!
So Job Classes like Black Mages and White Mages wouldn't be able to cast any of a Sage's spells due to lacking a source of energy that wouldn't wind up leaving Hydalyan dry as a bone and the lack of a centuries worth of saintly knowledge of spells would wind up leaving them making all kinds of mistakes while attempting to perform them, hence why the "Soul of the Sage" possessing The Exarch's little over centuries worth of experience!
And if I had to pick a Job Class for Sage, I could see it being either a Tank that prioritizes powerful defences with a few good mid ranged offensive spells or a DPS that can act as go to class for filling in the void of a Black Mage (Power Caster), Summoner (DoT Spammer) and Red Mage (Single Target Damage Spammer???) by a Stance System called All Rounder (named after The Exarch's Trust Job Class) that allows the Sage to freely switch between BLM, SMN and RDM based fighting styles with Sage's own unique flair. Either that or I could see Sage being a half Supporter and Offensive Spell Caster type Job Class that hangs in the back of Patties granting boosting Spells like Haste to allies and deabilitating spells like Slow to enemies, along with a SMN-BLM fusion like fighting style.
Also, for their weapon, a staff based off of The Exarch's would do along with inheriting his iconic stance as well when in combat stance.
So, what do you all think?
