I will try to summarize as much as I can, as I rave about this beautiful game.
I can't believe I forgot how fun this game was. In the space of a few weeks I've gone from having an abandoned, 5 year old account, to a level 58 white mage, 50 dragoon and 44 dark knight.
I've always loved the FF games, especially XIV because it reminds me so much of XII (my favourite), so I watched all trailers for all the expansions and the patches when they got released - and I got spoiled on some things, so I thought I knew about everything that was coming...
I DID NOT.
I finally decided to focus only on the main quests and booooyyyyy.
The Garleans were brilliant - I want more of them, because they remind me so much of (Archadian) Judges (if there was a Judge class I would die of happiness) . Gaius' theme is elite.
They were right, the 100 quests leading to Heavensward were... rough. but it was also amazing because I could already see how long they spent setting future events up (Heavensward AND Stormblood), because I see all the expansions, and I finally got to see some of the characters people are thirsting over (Estinien and Aymeric) lol
I absolutely loved Dreams of Ice, and that's where things started to get more fun for me. Shiva and Iceheart's theme... so beautiful.
"We whom men and gods have forsaken shall be the Instrument of our own deliverance "
What a fucking line. And yes please, step on me Saint Shiva.
I saw the demise of Nanamo coming and there was nothing I could do to stop it, and that made it so much more tense and tragic. the manner of her death hurt me and I'll remember it for a long time - my eyes got moist.
I did NOT see the fall of the Crystal Braves and that broke my heart. because of the Heavensward trailer, I assumed Raubhan was traitor, but now I see he's a goddamn legend unjustly punished!
there's a dark crystal, Zodiark?? And Midgardsomr! The blessing of Hydaelyn stripped away?? Moenbryda!!!! and I still haven't done coils of Bahamut! SO MUCH TO KNOW.
And now I've set foot into the holy see of Ishgard, with new eyes and proper context, ready for the holy war against the dragons.
I have not been sleeping these past few weeks because I have been absolutely entranced by this game and this story. I've even gotten at least 1 friend to get back into it, and 2 other friends to try it out, and they may be staying for good.
I will struggle to be productive and get work done. At this rate, I might catch up with the rest of you in Shadowbringers, sometime next year, and I cannot fucking wait.
Glad to again be walking in the light of the crystal.
