A Comparison

So I dabbled in 1.X of this game years ago, and left never looking back......for obvious reasons. Being a longtime WoW player, I've always had a hindsight to how I felt an MMO was suppose to play. Then with BFA I started branching, and tried out ffxiv again. Leveled on Zalera, got to 54ish, and quit right before finishing ARR's MSQs because I figured if these MSQs are this boring and grindy, qhy play?

Fast forward 5 more months. I hit 60 on my wow classic warrior, but being a pvper, I don't have content till phase 3. A friend started up FFxiv again, asked me to come back, so I said screw it, and resubbed, and finished ARR on my Miquote. Was real bored of ARR.....until the final houe of cinematics. I completely rerhought the entire leveling experience, all that happened, and took a seat back to just enjoy the story. On this completion, and finding out ribally what server my friend was on, I bought an auto 70 machinist, to get Gunbreaker, and bought out of the ARR stuff. Cheaper than wow's instant almost cap character still. I just finished Heavensward, patch content and all, and start stormblood tomorrow. But just wow. This game has redefined what I should expect from an MMO RPG. I had to view the gsme theough a lens of a singleplayer game with other people on the occassion, but with that in mind, its really good. The story and cinematics are leagues above other games, and I actually cared about characters like Haurchefant when they died, (and came back to save AD in spirit.) All in all, I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying the game in the drought of enjoyment I got from WoW, and mostly hope to expect more good things in Stormblood and eventually Shadowbringers.
