Since the release (or around the time) of 7.1, I have been unable to play because of constant 90006 errors. I've done hours of research, learned about trace route and path ping, and the only thing I've found is that there's a bad node somewhere between me in the Midwest and Square in California. I've found that using a VPN does work to bypass the bad node, but I cannot justify paying for an additional service just to play XIV.
I know the node is out of Square's control, so having to walk away from a game I just paid a yearly sub for is tough. I just wish there was some visibility on this issue as I have had to piece together so many forum posts from FFXIV, Netgear, Xfinity, and many niche blogs by myself.
I just want to be able to stay logged in long enough to clear the 24 man, man.
Just since it's the go to response from the mods:
Q: Does the issue occur with one character or multiple characters?
A: I only have one character
Q: At what point do you get disconnected and/or are unable to connect?
A: At random, usually when there's high player action load, like 24 mans or hub areas. But it does happen consistently when I'm the only PC in the area, like teleporting around my housing district.
Q: How often does the issue occur?
A: Often enough to make it so I cannot reliably play instanced content.
