As there is not much information out there on Ocean Fishing yet, I thought I would put out an idea of my own for you guys to consider, reject, or improve upon.
So far I have been using Patience I as much as possible, popping Hi-Cordial on cooldown, to boost my fishing points. This has yielded no more than 3k in a single run.
I read some of the other postings in this subreddit and came across something interesting in the comments of this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/f620vm/anyone_else_getting_eerie_messages_while_ocean/
"^ The one correct answer in the whole thread so far. When you catch a given number of a specific fish, you get a short buff called "Intuition" during which you can catch a rare fish. Intuition is announced by a heartbeat sound effect and a short text blurb like this one about glimpsing the rare fish in the water (each one is specific to its rare catch) "

The comments go on to discuss a bit of potential mechanics causing Fisher's Intuition. My thought is that instead of using Patience constantly should we instead be chumming on the regular, especially when under the effect of Fisher's Intuition. The theory here being that catching fish out of the spectral currents is far more lucrative points-wise than catching HQ fish outside of the currents. Chumming would allow more casts within the time frame of the buff and might help proc the currents.
Of course this would require at least a small party working together to pull off effectively. I hope to be able to test this with 2 or 3 friends tonight.
Thoughts?
